Associated studies

Next to HOVON’s own Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) and the trials HOVON participates in as a group (Intergroup studies), we provide on this platform an area where other trials are promoted, which are often phase I or II trials. These are the so called HOVON associated studies.

You can request to place an associated study on this website at the applicable working group.

Criteria HOVON associated studies

Background

HOVON-associated studies is a label that a working group can assign to studies that do not make direct use of the HOVON infrastructure, but do make use of the HOVON network for patient inclusion and involvement. This can include both pharmaceutically sponsored and investigator-driven studies.

This concerns studies that have been discussed in the working group and for which there is support from the working group to participate in this with a number of sites such as the Netherlands/Belgium.

Reasons for this may be that it concerns a (new) tool for which the working group attaches importance to participating in its development and for which an own HOVON study is not currently possible. By participating, opportunities may arise in the near future to initiate HOVON studies with this product/company.

Benefits for the company / research group

  • Familiarity of the study within the HOVON centers
  • Access to a substantial number of selected high-quality sites, with sites where the study is not open being able to refer patients.
  • Study will be on HOVON website
  • Optional: budget negotiation only with the lead site, the rest will take over.

Benefits for the working group

  • Check the number and which sites
  • Preventing fluent studies in the Netherlands
  • Recognizable role within the study
  • Opportunities for active participation in trial design, implementation and analysis
  • Longer term: building relationships, leading to own studies

Conditions

  • Number of sites discussed within working group
  • Working group helps determine which sites
  • The working group is a member of the steering group and has a detrimental influence on the study
  • As many HOVON authors as possible co-publish, and HOVON is used as an affiliate.
