IKNL symposium_Expensive medicines
Expensive medicines: False hope or prospect of recovery?
IKNL is organizing an evening symposium on expensive medicines on 3 October. Expensive medicines are increasingly part of the public debate. Because of questions about effectiveness, but also because our healthcare system is under considerable pressure. In 2021, we spent 2.6 billion on these medicines. The vast majority of this goes to oncology. This amount increases annually and displaces other care. At the symposium, the theme is approached from all sides.
How can we monitor the balance between quality, accessibility and affordability of expensive medicines? Based on figures from the Dutch Cancer Registry, IKNL wants to discuss this question with as many people as possible: from patient (representative) to medical specialist, from pharmaceutical company to pharmacist, from insurer to government.
The symposium, chaired by Tom van 't Hek, will be held on 3 October in TivoliVredenburg, close to Utrecht Central Station. Are you interested? Then leave your details here. You will then receive more information about the symposium and will receive the program when it is ready.
