Key objectives of working group
The key objectives of this working group are:
- Since a transplant is often part of a more comprehensive treatment strategy and is mainly used as a consolidation treatment, transplant studies will need to be developed in close connection with the ongoing (and future) studies for that particular clinical picture (e.g. CLL, myeloma, AML, MDS ). This means that there will often be cooperation with other HOVON working groups. More specific for allogeneic transplantation are studies in the field of graft-versus-host (GVH) prevention and treatment, studies in which the intensity of conditioning or the source of allogeneic stem cells (for example cord blood) is examined, as well as studies in which specifically a certain modality of allogeneic immunotherapy will be investigated.
- The working group intends to invest in systematically linking laboratory studies to clinical studies in order to derive clinically relevant molecular, pharmacokinetic, immunological and other biological insights from therapy studies. Its success is largely determined by the efficiency of the sample collection, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The aim is to achieve a high return from participation from the centers and a high return from sampling. The quality, standardization and quality control of the provisions will also be a constant point of attention. The interactions with the molecular working group MODHEM are important here.
